Our take
Xerox distinguishes the Phaser 6115MFP/N from the /D configuration. The /N includes the color multifunction workflow and wired Ethernet/USB, but its automatic duplex unit is optional; two-sided jobs can be handled manually. Xerox lists up to 20 ppm black-and-white and 5 ppm color.
A wired office that wants occasional color plus copy, scan, and fax, and can tolerate a slower print pace..
Skip it for frequent automatic duplex, fast color queues, Wi-Fi, or a numeric recommended monthly workload requirement.
Pros & cons
What could work for you, and what to consider before buying.
What works in its favor
- The device brings print, copy, scan, and fax together in one color model.
- Ethernet and USB are documented for the /N configuration.
- The manufacturer clearly separates the optional duplex unit from the standard /D configuration.
What to weigh up
- Automatic duplex is not standard on the exact /N model.
- Color output is rated up to 5 ppm, substantially slower than monochrome output.
- Xerox provides no comparable recommended monthly volume in the reviewed sheet.

What the features mean for you
Read the N suffix as a real configuration boundary
Xerox's configuration sheet identifies Phaser 6115MFP/N and Phaser 6115MFP/D as separate models. The N unit is the 110 V network configuration, while the D version has the automatic duplex unit standard. This article treats a candidate explicitly labeled /N as the network model, not as a bundle that automatically includes the /D paper hardware. That difference affects ordinary document handling, so inspect the nameplate and installed parts rather than relying on a family photo. The user guide also explains that a duplex unit can be added, but it remains an optional component for this exact base configuration.
Color and monochrome have very different rated pace
Xerox rates the 6115MFP at up to 20 pages per minute in black-and-white and 5 pages per minute in color. The distinction matters in offices that make occasional colored forms but send most text pages in mono. A queue dominated by color brochures may feel very different from the headline black speed, and the source does not guarantee those maxima for arbitrary files. The 200-sheet standard tray can support a small shared routine, but Xerox's document does not state a recommended monthly range. Do not use the 35,000-page maximum duty cycle as if it were a monthly recommendation.
Copy, scan, and fax add paper handling value
This is an MFP with color printing, copying, scanning, and fax, plus a 50-sheet automatic document feeder and a 200-sheet standard tray. Those functions may consolidate a small office's paper tasks, but the feeder does not make every scan duplex; confirm what is included in the particular configuration and which original sizes it accepts. Xerox documents Ethernet and USB, making the /N suited to a wired office network. The printer's purpose is broader than a simple laser printer, but its slower color rating and older controls should be weighed against that convenience.
Manual two-sided printing takes attention
The user guide says pages can be duplexed manually, and automatic two-sided output is available when the optional duplex unit is installed and enabled in the driver. Plain paper is required for auto duplex, with a stated 60 to 90 gsm weight restriction. That makes manual reloading a known fallback, while frequent packets benefit only if the optional hardware is present. Check the unit for the duplex module and run a test before valuing that feature. The brochure lists two-sided output as optional on /N and standard on /D, so the suffix and actual machine should agree.
Treat the offered unit as an older device
The Phaser 6115MFP is an older model, and the reviewed Xerox sources establish its designed configuration rather than today's parts supply, driver compatibility, or the state of an individual printer. For a specific used unit, confirm the /N nameplate, 110 V configuration, working fax, scan glass, ADF feed, color output, tray, Ethernet, and any duplex accessory. Ask for the page count and maintenance history, and verify that the computers can send print and scan jobs using available drivers. Its multifunction design can be useful, but condition and setup deserve attention before considering speed alone.
What else to compare
Compare a model with standard automatic duplex for frequent two-sided output, or a faster color MFP for regular color queues.
Before you buy
Does the 6115MFP/N have automatic duplex standard?
No. Xerox says the automatic duplex unit is optional on /N and standard on /D.
Can it still print two-sided pages without that unit?
The user guide describes manual duplexing; the operator handles the pages between sides.
What color speed does Xerox list?
Up to 5 pages per minute in color, compared with up to 20 ppm in monochrome.

The decision
The 6115MFP/N offers a wired color fax MFP workflow, but its slower color pace and optional automatic duplex are central trade-offs.
