Our take
Choose the Type-C Smart Hub when a USB-C laptop needs one HDMI display, card access and wired networking in a compact adapter. Its 4K/30Hz video ceiling and 48W host-charging limit make it a poor fit for high-refresh displays or laptops that need more power.
A USB-C laptop owner who needs one modest-refresh display, card access and Ethernet in a compact hub and can work within the 48W charging ceiling..
It is not for multiple displays, 4K/60Hz output, a laptop requiring more than 48W through the hub, or a buyer seeking the separate four-port AC wall charger also called Smart Hub.
Pros & cons
What could work for you, and what to consider before buying.
What works in its favor
- The official manual identifies the TCSMHUB01 model and a useful mix of USB-A, HDMI, card-reader and Gigabit Ethernet functions.
- The 48W pass-through and power-only role of the USB-C socket are documented.
- The hub's model and function are distinguishable from Native Union's separate wall charger.
What to weigh up
- HDMI is rated to 4K/30Hz or 2K/60Hz, not 4K/60Hz.
- The PD port carries power only and provides up to 48W to the host after the hub's stated power use.
- The historical Amazon ASIN could not be mapped to the exact model or current offer.

Full review: how the features affect your choice
What the features mean for you
Use the compact layout for one laptop display and common accessories
The Type-C Smart Hub combines two USB-A 3.0 data ports with HDMI, an SD reader, a microSD reader and Gigabit Ethernet. That mix can replace several small adapters when traveling with a compatible USB-C laptop. It is a single-display design, so a seven-in-one count should not be read as multiple monitor outputs. The available manual identifies model TCSMHUB01; an indexed retailer record provides a gray SKU clue, but the old Amazon ASIN was not readable. Match the printed model and port panel before purchasing.
Check whether the HDMI ceiling suits the monitor
Native Union lists HDMI up to 3840 by 2160 at 30Hz or 2560 by 1440 at 60Hz. That can suit a presentation or a standard desktop where 4K/30Hz is acceptable, but it is not a 4K/60Hz adapter. The laptop must also support video over USB-C, and the selected cable and monitor need to support the mode. If smooth high-refresh 4K or more than one external display is required, choose a model with those conditions documented instead of relying on the hub's port count.
Keep the power-only USB-C socket separate from data ports
The manual says the USB-C PD port provides power and does not carry data or video. The two USB-A ports remain the listed downstream data connections; plugging in a USB-C drive to the PD socket will not turn it into another data port. The manual recommends a 60W input charger, says the hub may use up to 12W, and specifies up to 48W of pass-through. The adapter itself is not identified as an included package item, so confirm the power supply arrangement before planning a desk around single-cable charging.
Choose it when card access and wired networking matter
The manual identifies SD-family and microSD card slots plus Gigabit Ethernet. These can be useful for moving camera files or connecting to a wired network without carrying separate adapters. The specifications do not establish that both card readers operate simultaneously or promise a particular real-world transfer rate. A Gigabit Ethernet label also describes the port class, not the speed of an entire internet connection. Check card capacity and host compatibility in the manual if those details determine the purchase.
Avoid confusing the laptop hub with the wall charger
Native Union has a separate product archived as a four-port wall-charger Smart Hub. That charger is not this Type-C laptop adapter: TCSMHUB01 has USB-A data ports, HDMI, card readers and Ethernet, while its PD socket is for pass-through power. The saved manufacturer manual and retailer SKU record support the laptop-hub identity, but the historical Amazon page did not provide a model crosswalk. Search by TCSMHUB01 and compare the port diagram rather than treating the shared Smart Hub name as proof of identity.
