Our take
A compact dock with a useful choice of display plugs, but its one USB 2.0 port and 10/100 Ethernet are basic; verify that those limits suit the trip.
A traveler who needs a choice of monitor or projector connection, one basic USB peripheral, wired 10/100 Ethernet and up-to-60W charging from a USB-C or Thunderbolt 3 computer..
Buyers who need multiple simultaneous screens, fast USB storage or Gigabit Ethernet.

Full review: how the features affect your choice
What the features mean for you
Check the host port and video capability
The manual describes a USB-C multiport travel dock for USB-C or Thunderbolt 3 computers. Its HDMI output depends on the host carrying a compatible display signal, so a USB-C-shaped connector alone is not enough. Confirm that the laptop supports video over USB-C/DisplayPort Alt Mode and check the operating-system and driver notes for the exact machine. The manual is dated for a Thunderbolt 3 generation and does not establish compatibility with every later USB4 or Thunderbolt revision, even though the historical title uses broad compatibility language. The six-inch integrated tail is short, which suits a nearby port but may not reach around a monitor stand or through a large protective case.
Choose one display connection and the mode you need
The dock provides HDMI, DisplayPort and VGA choices, but the manual says only one display can be connected at a time. HDMI and DisplayPort are listed up to 4K at 60Hz, while VGA reaches up to 1080p. This makes the dock more flexible when switching between a newer monitor and an older projector, but it is not a multi-monitor splitter. Compare the laptop's video output, the monitor input and the cable before buying. The manual notes that a 4K path needs a 4K-rated source, cable and display. Do not assume the three video connectors can run together, or that a single HDMI/VGA adapter can extend a second desktop.
Treat Ethernet and USB data as modest extras
The most important limitation for data peripherals is that the manual documents one USB 2.0 Type-A port at up to 480Mbps. A USB 3.0 storage device connected there will be limited to the USB 2.0 path, so this is a poor match for frequent high-speed backups. The network connector is Fast Ethernet at 10/100Mbps, not Gigabit. That can still provide a wired link for ordinary network access, but it is not the right feature set for a buyer who needs Gigabit file transfers or multiple USB drives. The model's headline port mix is unusual for a current-looking dock: its video choice is broad, while its single USB port and network speed are basic.
Plan charging around the 60W limit
The manual states up to 60W laptop charging through a USB-C Power Delivery charger, which is sold separately. This is a maximum figure rather than a guarantee that every connected computer will receive 60W; the laptop and charger must both support USB-C PD. A higher-wattage laptop may charge slowly or need its own charger. Cable Matters advises connecting the charger and other cables before attaching the dock to the computer, and warns that disconnecting power during use may interrupt video, Ethernet or USB. Keep the power path simple and verify the computer's minimum charging requirement if the dock will be the only charger connection.
Search by the part number and verify the historical ASIN
A reseller product record associates B076TRGGM6 with Cable Matters 201031-BLK, while the inspected Amazon detail page did not verify a current offer. Search for the exact part number and compare the dock's one USB 2.0 port, Fast Ethernet, three alternative video connectors and short built-in cable. Other Cable Matters models have different USB speeds, display arrangements and power limits, so do not borrow their specifications based on brand alone. This review uses the 201031 manual and the exact reseller identifier record. It does not claim personal testing, current stock or buyer-review findings.
