Our take
The Sun Joe iON16LM is a 16-inch cordless mower documented with a 40 V maximum, 36 V nominal battery system, 4.0 Ah lithium-ion battery, charger, six height settings, and 9.25-gallon grass bag. Snow Joe lists the mower at 32 pounds without the battery and 34.6 pounds with it. This gives buyers a well-documented kit and cutting range to compare, but the exact manual does not give a comparable runtime or area-per-charge figure. Treat this as a model-based fit review, not a performance test or guarantee about a seller's current offer.
A buyer comparing a compact-width cordless mower whose exact manual lists the 4.0 Ah battery, charger, collection bag, and height range..
Look elsewhere if you need self-propelled drive, a maker-stated runtime or yard-area claim, a verified bushel bag capacity, or an exact current-condition listing.
Pros & cons
What could work for you, and what to consider before buying.
What works in its favor
- The manual's carton contents include the exact iON16LM mower, 4.0 Ah battery, charger, safety key, and grass bag.
- Its 16-inch width and six documented height settings provide concrete compact-deck and adjustment comparisons.
- The mower-alone and battery-installed weights are both stated, avoiding a guess about the kit's added battery weight.
What to weigh up
- The manual does not state runtime or area per charge for the 4.0 Ah battery.
- The 9.25-gallon grass bag is not specified in the questionnaire's bushel unit.
- The row's historical Amazon offer does not prove present seller condition or that every current search result is the same kit.

Full review: how the features affect your choice
What the features mean for you
A 16-inch deck with a measured weight distinction
Snow Joe documents a 16-inch cutting width, a 32-pound mower-alone weight, and a 34.6-pound weight with the battery installed. Those figures make the iON16LM a useful comparison against the 17-inch SENIX LPPX5-M and wider 21-inch mowers without relying on broad labels such as lightweight. The manual's two weights clarify what is and is not included in the listed mass. Measure the mower's full outside width and storage path separately; the cutting width alone does not describe every dimension needed to pass a gate or fit a shelf.
A documented 4.0 Ah battery-and-charger kit
The iON16LM manual lists one 40 V, 4.0 Ah lithium-ion battery and a matching Snow Joe charger in the carton contents. It describes 40 V as the initial no-load maximum and 36 V as the nominal voltage under typical load. The profile records the marketed maximum and preserves the nominal-voltage note, because voltage labels are not a direct performance ranking. Confirm that a current seller's offer includes the iON16LM battery and charger; do not infer compatibility with another brand's packs from voltage alone.
Six adjustments cover a stated 1.18-to-3.15-inch range
Snow Joe lists six cutting positions at 1.18, 1.38, 1.77, 2.17, 2.60, and 3.15 inches. This makes both the endpoints and the number of settings available for a hard requirement or a preference comparison. The sequence is more informative than an unquantified claim of adjustable height, but the correct cut depends on the lawn and mowing conditions. The source does not establish how the mower performs at each setting or whether a particular setting is appropriate for every grass variety.
A grass bag is included, with capacity kept in its source unit
The exact manual names a 9.25-gallon grass bag and describes the ejector flap and bag indicator. That supports a collection configuration. The profile's structured capacity field uses bushels, so it remains unknown instead of converting the manual's gallon figure and making the conversion look like manufacturer data. The manual does not establish a side-discharge option in the reviewed material. If bag volume or another discharge mode is essential, compare the seller package and maker documentation in the unit and configuration that matter to you.
Do not estimate runtime from voltage and amp-hours
The manual identifies a 4.0 Ah battery and its charger but does not state minutes of operation or square feet covered on one charge. Multiplying battery voltage by capacity would not produce a supported mower runtime, because operating conditions and manufacturer test methods are not provided. The profile leaves runtime and area claims unknown, so neither can satisfy a hard questionnaire requirement. Before purchase, match the iON16LM model suffix, included battery, charger, bag, and current seller condition. The exact manual supports the configuration; it does not verify an individual marketplace item's age or state.
Compare for your needs
Compare the SENIX LPPX5-M for a 17-inch deck and its 2.5 Ah kit, or the MJ506E if corded operation and reel blades suit your setup. The iON16LM's distinguishing documented facts are a 16-inch cut, six height positions, 4.0 Ah battery, and included charger.

How many height settings does it have?
The manual lists six settings from 1.18 to 3.15 inches, with each setting specified.

The decision
The iON16LM is a well-specified compact-width battery kit, provided its seller package matches the manual and the missing runtime claim is not a hard requirement. Compare its stated dimensions and bag volume directly with your route and collection needs.
