Our take
Sharp R-551ZM is a stainless 1.8-cu.-ft. countertop microwave, not an over-the-range model. Exact output, input and supply, sensor function, tray size, trim fit, commercial-duty class and the historical refurbished offer are unverified.
Consider R-551ZM only when a stainless 1.8-cu.-ft. countertop microwave fits your space and you can verify the appliance label and technical manual before relying on cooking power or outlet needs. Do not select it for over-the-range installation or assume a trim kit based on a neighboring Sharp model. Verify sensor features, tray dimensions and condition for the actual item..
If exact wattage, outlet requirements, sensor cooking, tray fit or trim compatibility are hard requirements, choose a model whose exact manual documents them. Verify the R-551ZM nameplate and condition before relying on any electrical or feature claim.
Pros & cons
What could work for you, and what to consider before buying.
What works in its favor
- The exact-model retailer record identifies R-551ZM as stainless steel with a 1.8-cu.-ft. cavity.
- Sharp Advisor says the model is not over-the-range, and exact-model records classify it as countertop.
- The full ZM suffix is distinguishable from R-551ZS and R-651ZS, allowing buyers to check the correct identity rather than borrow their kit claims.
What to weigh up
- Exact microwave output, electrical input, voltage and frequency remain unverified, so cooking-power and circuit comparisons are limited.
- Sensor cooking, turntable diameter and trim-kit fit are unknown; features from other Sharp suffixes do not establish them.
- The historical refurbished ASIN did not verify current item identity, condition or offer; use the tagged exact-model search.

What the features mean for you
Preserve R-551ZM as its own Sharp code
Best Buy identifies R-551ZM as model SKU 5005501, and Sears PartsDirect has a separate parts record under the same full code. Keep it distinct from R-551ZS and R-651ZS. Sharp Advisor's reply mentions those different suffixes when discussing trim installation; their capabilities do not establish a kit for R-551ZM.
Use only the confirmed size and finish
The exact retailer record lists a stainless 1.8-cu.-ft. full-size microwave. Those are the product details supported for this model. The old listing title's 1,100-W claim is not backed by an exact R-551ZM manual in the reviewed sources. Treat both cooking output and electrical input as unknown, and consult the label and model manual before comparing performance or planning an outlet.
Treat the countertop classification literally
Sharp Advisor states that R-551ZM is not an over-the-range microwave, and the model-specific page calls it countertop. This identifies its placement category, but it does not grant permission to install it inside a cabinet or under a shelf. Follow the clearance instructions from the manual for the actual unit; no exact trim-kit pairing was established here.
Do not convert the title's sensor claim into a match
The frozen title says sensor technology, but the exact technical manual for R-551ZM was not retrievable and the retailer's exact model data does not supply a sensor specification. Leave sensor cooking unknown. Sharp's separate models often have different controls, so features on an R-551ZS or another similarly named oven cannot fill this model's evidence gap.
Measure cookware and confirm the supply from the unit
The reviewed exact-model sources do not give a turntable diameter, input watts, voltage, frequency or current. Capacity alone cannot prove that a particular platter rotates, and the historical 1,100-W title value is not an electrical rating. Check the R-551ZM label and original owner's manual for tray fit and outlet requirements before selecting the unit.
Check refurbished identity and duty class separately
The frozen ASIN title says certified refurbished, but the Amazon page returned an error and does not verify a current refurbished R-551ZM offer. Use the tagged model search as a lead, inspect condition and full suffix on any listing, and do not infer a commercial-foodservice rating from the size or retailer category. No manufacturer duty classification was found.
