Our take
Optoma's HD131Xe is a lamp-based home projector with a clearly documented native Full HD image and 2,500 ANSI lumens. Its conventional 1.5–1.8:1 throw and 1.2× optical zoom give some placement latitude for a measured room, but not the close-wall geometry of a UST model. The brochure lists dual HDMI, VGA, composite, audio inputs and output, a 10 W speaker, 3D sync, and RS-232. The 3D viewing system requires the separate ZF2100 accessories. Check lamp hours and exact offer contents before comparing a used unit.
A conventional-distance home cinema or movie room where native Full HD and a stated ANSI rating are useful filters.
It is not for ultra-short-throw placement, integrated streaming apps, a native 4K requirement, or a buyer who expects 3D glasses and emitter in the box.
Pros & cons
What could work for you, and what to consider before buying.
What works in its favor
- Optoma specifies native 1920 × 1080 imaging and 2,500 ANSI lumens.
- A 1.2× optical zoom adds limited flexibility within the conventional 1.5–1.8:1 throw range.
- Dual HDMI and legacy video inputs cover a useful home-theater source mix.
What to weigh up
- The replaceable lamp's remaining life and current condition belong to the individual unit.
- The brochure does not establish a built-in streaming platform.
- The ZF2100 3D system is separate, so 3D capability does not mean glasses are included.

Full review: how the features affect your choice
What the features mean for you
Will the lens fit the room?
Optoma specifies a 1.5–1.8:1 throw ratio and 1.2× optical zoom. That is conventional placement: measure lens-to-screen distance against the target image width before choosing a shelf or ceiling mount. The zoom gives modest image-size adjustment without moving the chassis, although it cannot transform the unit into a short-throw design. A 100-inch headline in a brochure is not a substitute for checking the room's actual throw table and seating. The HD131Xe is a clearer fit than a UST model when the room already has projector distance, but it is the wrong answer when the lens must sit close to the screen.
What image detail and output can be compared?
The brochure identifies native 1920 × 1080 and states 2,500 ANSI lumens. That lets a buyer compare the HD131Xe with other native Full HD projectors and use a brightness value with an identified ANSI basis. Those remain model specifications, not a measurement of an aging lamp. A projector used for years may produce less or less even light than a new unit, so inspect the lamp-hours screen and image before purchase. The native pixel count is also distinct from 4K input support or a source device sending a higher-resolution signal.
What does the 3D feature require?
Optoma lists 3D sync and states that the ZF2100 system is needed for 3D viewing. The brochure does not establish that those accessories are part of every offer. If 3D is important, verify the emitter, compatible glasses, and source signal format on the exact unit instead of relying on a 3D logo. A buyer choosing the projector for ordinary 2D films can treat those accessories as optional, but should not pay for a bundle that assumes they are included. The separate-system detail is especially important for discontinued equipment where original remotes and accessories may be missing.
How do the ports and sound fit a home setup?
The brochure lists two HDMI 1.4a inputs, VGA, composite video, two 3.5 mm audio inputs, 3.5 mm audio output, a 10 W speaker, and RS-232. HDMI can handle common players and consoles, while VGA or composite may preserve a connection to older gear. The audio output gives an external receiver or powered speaker a route, and the built-in speaker is available for basic sound. The source does not establish a streaming-app platform, so use an external player for current services and verify that its video and audio outputs match the projector's inputs.
What should a buyer check on a used lamp model?
The HD131Xe uses a replaceable lamp, and Optoma's rated lamp-life figures describe operating modes rather than the remaining life in a specific projector. Ask for the current lamp-hours reading and test the image after it has warmed up. Check focus across the image, the fan, the remote, both HDMI inputs, and any 3D accessories you intend to use. The historical candidate ASIN is not proven to be an exact current offer, so compare the chassis label with HD131Xe and confirm condition, return terms, and package contents. Its ANSI specification is useful for filtering, but it is not a guarantee about used-unit output.
Compare for your needs
For a close cabinet position, compare a true UST model. For an installed conventional room, compare projectors by their exact throw, optical zoom, native resolution, and stated output method.

Before you buy
Is the HD131Xe native Full HD?
Yes. Optoma's exact-model brochure specifies native 1920 × 1080 resolution.
How many ANSI lumens does it list?
The HD131Xe brochure states 2,500 ANSI lumens; a used lamp's current output still needs a unit-specific check.
Are the 3D glasses included?
The brochure says the separate ZF2100 3D system is required, but it does not confirm accessories in a particular offer.
