Our take
The ScreenPlay SP2080HD is a native Full HD DLP projector with two HDMI inputs, manual zoom, and an older DLP 3D feature set. InFocus lists 4,000 lumens without an ANSI method, so the value stays out of ANSI-threshold comparisons. It suits a fixed wired setup more clearly than a smart or portable use case.
A fixed home-theater or media room that needs native Full HD and multiple wired inputs.
Avoid it if you need an ANSI-verified brightness rating, integrated streaming apps, battery operation, native 4K, or a close-wall installation.
Pros & cons
What could work for you, and what to consider before buying.
What works in its favor
- InFocus specifies native 1920 × 1080 DLP imaging.
- Two HDMI 1.4a inputs accompany VGA, component, composite, and S-Video connections.
- Manual 1.3× zoom, a 1.12–1.47:1 throw range, and DLP 3D support are documented.
What to weigh up
- The advertised 4,000-lumen figure is not labeled ANSI.
- A replaceable lamp and legacy 3D ecosystem require a used-unit and accessory check.
- TechStation support accommodates external players; it is not built-in streaming.

Full review: how the features affect your choice
What the features mean for you
Full HD is the strongest clear match
The manufacturer datasheet identifies native 1920 × 1080 DLP imaging. That is a straightforward match for Full HD sources in a home-media room, but it is not native 4K. A source may accept a larger signal without changing the native pixel grid. InFocus also documents DLP 3D support, so a buyer considering that older feature should verify compatible glasses, source formats, and the exact unit rather than assuming every accessory is included.
The lumen figure does not qualify for ANSI filters
InFocus lists 4,000 lumens, but the datasheet does not label that figure ANSI. The ANSI attribute therefore remains unknown. It would be misleading to compare the number directly against a 4,000 ANSI-lumen threshold or another explicitly ANSI-rated projector. Brightness in practice also depends on mode, lamp age, screen, and ambient light. If a measurable output threshold is important, find an exact-model source with a named method or choose a candidate that documents one.
A conventional lens still requires room planning
The SP2080HD has a 1.12–1.47:1 throw range and 1.3× manual optical zoom. Measure the screen and lens distance before mounting, and confirm that the intended image can be achieved without extreme digital keystone correction. This is conventional placement, not an ultra-short-throw design. The source packet does not establish optical lens shift, so align the mount and screen rather than relying on an undocumented lens movement feature.
Inputs are broad but the source remains external
InFocus lists two HDMI 1.4a ports along with VGA, component, composite, S-Video, audio, RS232, and a 12 V trigger. The TechStation feature can accept external streaming devices such as Chromecast, Fire TV, or Roku, but it does not make apps part of the projector itself. Choose and verify an external player, including any required HDCP or audio path. The range of connections may help integrate older equipment into a fixed media room.
Inspect the lamp, 3D, and controls
The datasheet lists lamp life across normal, ECO, and dynamic modes at 4,000, 10,000, and 15,000 hours. These are estimates and do not reveal remaining life for a used SP2080HD. Check lamp hours, image uniformity, focus, fan behavior, both HDMI inputs, and remote operation. If DLP 3D matters, verify glasses and source compatibility separately. The projector uses AC power and a replaceable lamp, so it is designed for a room setup rather than untethered use.
Compare for your needs
The Epson Home Cinema 2040 also offers Full HD but reports non-ANSI IDMS/ISO figures. The Nebula Cosmos Laser has a documented 1,840 ANSI rating and laser light source, with a regional streaming-dongle caveat.

Before you buy
Is the SP2080HD native 1080p?
Yes. InFocus lists native 1920 × 1080 DLP resolution.
Are the 4,000 lumens ANSI?
The datasheet does not label the value ANSI, so the ANSI matching attribute remains unknown.
Does it have built-in streaming apps?
No app platform is established by the saved sources; TechStation can accommodate an external streaming player.

The decision
Consider the SP2080HD for a wired Full HD room with useful legacy ports; treat its 4,000-lumen claim conservatively and inspect lamp condition.
