Our take
The Toshiba Canvio Connect II HDTC830XC3C1 is a 3TB portable hard drive for someone who wants a sizeable file library in a small USB-powered enclosure. Its documented advantages are the 3TB capacity, a USB 3.0 interface that can connect to a USB 2.0 port, and no listed need for a separate AC adapter. The limitation is age and uncertainty: saved system requirements name older software and operating-system conditions, and the sources do not establish present support, current backup services, or an exact current Amazon offer. Choose it for the documented hardware profile, not for historical cloud or software promises.
A portable 3TB library or backup drive when USB 3.0 or a documented USB 2.0 host path fits, no separate adapter is preferred, and the buyer will verify present host support and the exact seller unit.
A strict 4TB-or-higher requirement, a verified current software or cloud service, tested transfer performance, FireWire or Thunderbolt, rugged drop protection, or a buyer who needs the historical Amazon ASIN to be a confirmed current offer.

What the features mean for you
What does the 3TB capacity change?
The exact model is listed at 3TB, giving a buyer more nominal room than the 1.5TB WD Elements Portable and 2TB Avolusion MiniHDDGear options in this comparison pool. That can help keep a larger photo, video, or project library together rather than dividing it sooner across multiple devices. Formatted usable space will be lower than the advertised figure. The separate Toshiba Canvio Advance red is also 3TB, so these two Toshiba configurations tie on stated capacity; the Connect II is not larger, and there is no saved price comparison to call it a better value. If the requirement is at least 4TB, this model does not meet it. Keep a second copy of important files because capacity in one drive is not a backup by itself.
Will it connect to the computer you have?
Newegg identifies USB 3.0 for HDTC830XC3C1, and the exact-model listings say it can connect through a USB 2.0 port. That gives this model a documented host path for an older USB 2.0 computer while keeping USB 3.0 as its native interface. A backward-compatible port connection does not prove that a specific current operating system, adapter, or file system will work. Check the exact host and workflow before moving a critical archive. Newegg lists 5400 RPM and an 8MB cache; those are hardware specifications, not measured copy speeds or a prediction for a particular computer.
Does the setup need a separate power supply?
The exact-model listings describe USB power and do not list a separate AC adapter as part of the drive's operating arrangement. That can simplify a laptop bag or a desk with no spare outlet. It does not establish that a current seller includes the original cable, or that a particular computer's port will provide the needed power in every setup. Check the actual offer and host, especially if the drive is being bought used. The saved sources give no measured performance result, so neither USB 3.0's interface label nor the spindle specification should be read as a real-world transfer guarantee.
How portable is the enclosure?
The exact-model pages describe the Canvio Connect II as pocket-sized and list dimensions of about 4.29 by 3.07 by 0.77 inches and a weight of about 8.11 ounces. Those cited measurements describe a compact way to carry more nominal capacity than the smaller portable examples in this pool. The saved sources do not establish rugged protection or tested shock resistance for this model. Treat it as a portable hard disk that still needs ordinary care in transit, and keep important data elsewhere as well; no drop test or personal handling claim is made here.
Are the old software and service descriptions current?
The source pages contain older operating-system requirements and descriptions of backup software and cloud-enabled features. Those are historical product-page details, not proof that installers remain available, that a license can still be activated, or that any cloud service is operating today. A USB connection on a newer computer does not by itself confirm current operating-system support or the behavior of a particular backup workflow. If present-day software, encryption, restore steps, or an online service are essential, confirm that exact requirement independently before relying on this drive. The hardware match is better established than its modern software story.
Which color and offer should you check?
Use the full code HDTC830XC3C1 when checking a listing. Newegg and B&H identify this exact code as satin gold, while the historical source title says silver. Preserve that title conflict rather than changing the model or substituting another Canvio Connect II color code. The historical ASIN B00SY4LEUY has not been verified as a current exact offer, so the affiliate link is a tagged search for the model and capacity. Compare the seller's label, photos, included cable, condition, return terms, and exact model before buying; those current offer details remain unknown.
What else to compare
Before you buy
Is HDTC830XC3C1 the satin-gold 3TB Canvio Connect II?
Exact-model Newegg and B&H listings identify HDTC830XC3C1 as a satin-gold 3TB model. The frozen historical title says silver, and the old ASIN has not been confirmed as today's exact offer.
Does it need a separate power adapter?
The exact-model listings describe USB power and do not list a separate AC adapter. Check whether the present seller includes the original cable and confirm the exact unit.
Can it connect to a USB 2.0 computer?
The exact-model listing says it works with a USB 2.0 or USB 3.0 port, and B&H says the included USB 3.0 cable works with USB 2.0. This connection information does not establish current operating-system support or measured speed.
Are the old backup and cloud features included today?
That is not established. The saved pages contain historical software and service descriptions, not proof of current licenses, installers, cloud access, or restore support.
Where can I check the current price?
Use the Amazon link for current offers. Check the exact model, seller, product condition, delivery, and return terms. This page does not display a live price or confirm stock.
