Our take
The De'Longhi DBM450 offers more personalization than a fixed-menu bread maker. Its manual lists 14 numbered programs plus a separate Rapid Bake button, three loaf sizes and three crust shades on eligible cycles, and five Favorite slots that store user-adjusted stage times. The menu includes Wholewheat, Gluten Free, Dough, Artisan Dough, Pizza Dough, Jam and Cake. A removable dispenser releases suitable ingredients during kneading on selected programs, and a separate beep can still prompt manual additions. The separate Rapid Bake button has a 58-minute chart entry, but the manual does not link that duration to a selected loaf size. Delay extends to 15 hours but excludes Rapid Bake and menus 7–13, including Gluten Free, Dough and Jam. Keep Warm lasts an hour and power protection eight minutes. The pan needs hand washing. Lowe's feature grid says Gluten Free is absent, but the model-specific manual names it; use the manual's program list while retaining the listing discrepancy.
Bakers wanting programmable stages, 1–2 lb sizes and automatic release for suitable add-ins who can follow cycle-specific timer and dispenser rules..
Not for buyers who require dishwasher-safe parts, delayed Gluten Free baking, automatic handling of every mix-in, or a confirmed sub-hour loaf at a particular size.
Pros & cons
What could work for you, and what to consider before buying.
What works in its favor
- Five Favorite slots allow saved stage timing across preheat, knead, rise, bake and Keep Warm.
- The manual lists 1 lb, 1.5 lb and 2 lb sizes, three crust shades and a separate Rapid Bake button.
- The automatic dispenser works on selected cycles and has documented ingredient limits.
What to weigh up
- Delay excludes Rapid Bake and menus 7–13, including Gluten Free, Dough, Artisan Dough, Jam and Pizza Dough.
- The pan and kneader must be hand-washed; the manual says not to put the pan in a dishwasher.
- The 58-minute Rapid Bake entry is not tied to a selectable loaf size, and Lowe's Gluten Free claim conflicts with the manual.

What the features mean for you
Fourteen menus and a separate Rapid Bake button
The DBM450 manual has fourteen numbered settings: Basic, White Rapid, Wholewheat, Wholewheat Rapid, French, Sweet, Quick Bread, Cake, Gluten Free, Dough, Artisan Dough, Jam, Pizza Dough and Bake. A separate Rapid Bake button is counted apart from those numbered menu selections. The chart's separate Rapid Bake row shows 0:58, but does not pair that time with a loaf-size selector; it should not satisfy a hard requirement for a sub-hour loaf at a specified size. The two numbered Rapid bread settings take substantially longer and have their own recipe restrictions. The machine's Gluten Free setting is present in the model-specific manual even though Lowe's feature grid says “No.” The manual governs the program tag; neither source establishes celiac-safe handling.
Loaf choices and specialty dough
The control panel allows 1 lb, 1.5 lb and 2 lb loaves and Light, Medium or Dark crust on eligible programs. The manual's chart limits the combinations by course. Separate menus include Dough, long-rise Artisan Dough and Pizza Dough, alongside Cake, Jam and Bake. Gluten Free is charted at 1.5 lb and 2 lb, not 1 lb. Buyers should confirm the program row before assuming a given size or crust works for the recipe. The manual's rapid whole-wheat course is not suitable for 100% wholemeal loaves. These distinctions make the machine versatile, while also requiring more attention than a device where one size and crust setting applies to every cycle.
Favorite programs for experienced bakers
The Favorite function stores up to five user-created programs in P1–P5. Users can adjust stage timings for preheat, kneading, rising, baking and Keep Warm, which is useful when they want to repeat a recipe without relying on one of the fixed menus. The manual's Favorite instructions also allow the selected custom program to be started immediately or with the delay function, subject to the same general timer limits. A saved cycle does not override restrictions on the Delay Timer or ingredient safety. Someone who does not plan to experiment with stage timing may not use this feature, but it is a clear advantage for bakers who want more control than fixed presets provide.
Dispenser limits and timer restrictions
The removable dispenser releases suitable dried fruit, nuts and large seeds after about 15–20 minutes of kneading on specified cycles. The manual excludes small seeds, herbs, cheese, chocolate, oily items and wet or high-water-content ingredients from that dispenser. A separate audible alert can still prompt the user to add items manually when needed. Delay Start reaches 15 hours in ten-minute steps, but is unavailable with the separate Rapid Bake button and numbered menus 7–13: Quick Bread, Cake, Gluten Free, Dough, Artisan Dough, Jam and Pizza Dough. It also warns against delayed use with milk, eggs, cheese, yogurt and other perishable food. Keep Warm runs up to one hour; power interruption protection is eight minutes.
Care, electrical details and open questions
The manual identifies one removable kneader and directs hand-washing; it explicitly says not to put the pan in a dishwasher. The pan is nonstick, but the coating is not identified as ceramic. The manual cover specifies 120 V, 60 Hz and 780 W. Lowe's gives dimensions of 12.4 inches high × 15.15 inches wide × 9.25 inches long and a listed weight, but those are reseller measurements and the maker does not call the unit compact. Loaf orientation is not stated. Lowe's also calls the machine fan-assisted or convection, but the inspected manual does not describe a convection setting, so that feature remains unverified. Lowe's indicates its item is no longer sold; no current Amazon offer is verified.
