Our take
BESTA512CM is a specialized 12-inch corded combination tool rather than a conventional rotary-deck mower. BLACK+DECKER says it moves between mowing with a detachable MTD100 deck, string trimming, and edging, and lists an AF-100 spool in its standard contents. The page gives a 6.5 A motor and a 1.6-inch mowing-height figure but does not document a range, catcher capacity, or bagging and discharge modes. Its small width may help in limited spaces, while its string-based mowing head and extension-cord use define its limits. The historical offer is Renewed, so confirm the seller’s included deck, spool, and condition.
A shopper with a very small mowing area who values one corded tool for mowing, trimming, and edging and will check the Renewed package..
Choose a conventional blade mower if you need a grass catcher, documented mulching or side discharge, a broad height range, or a wider deck.

Full review: how the features affect your choice
What the features mean for you
A compact combo with a different cutting head
The manufacturer identifies BESTA512CM as a corded mower, string trimmer, and edger. Its MTD100 deck detaches for trimming, and the trimmer head rotates for edging. That makes it distinct from a conventional walk-behind mower with a rotary blade and collection deck. The listed 12-inch width is a useful compactness detail, but it should not be treated as evidence of a 12-inch steel blade. The page does not state a grass catcher, bagging mode, or side-discharge configuration, so the mower should be considered for a buyer who understands the string-cutting design.
Corded 6.5 A operation
BLACK+DECKER specifies a 6.5 A motor and a corded power connection. That removes battery charging from the model but makes a safe outdoor extension-cord path part of the setup. The exact page does not establish a maximum extension-cord length or performance under a particular load, so this review does not infer either. The source also does not explicitly call the mower self-propelled or push-only; the matching profile leaves drive unknown rather than use a standard assumption. The product’s separate trimming and edging functions should not be confused with drive assistance.
Only one mowing-height figure is published
The product page gives a 1.6-inch cutting-height figure and mentions adjustable height and handle positions, but it does not publish a minimum-to-maximum range or count of mower-height settings. The profile therefore does not fill in endpoints or positions. This is a useful distinction for a buyer who needs a low cut or several exact settings: a single stated height does not prove the rest of the adjustment range. Consult the exact instruction manual and seller configuration if those measurements are essential to your decision.
Check the included components
The manufacturer page lists a BESTA512CM string trimmer, an MTD100 detachable mower deck, an AF-100 spool, an auxiliary handle, and a guard in its standard contents. That answers the prior model-level question about whether the AF-100 is part of the base configuration. It still does not prove that a particular Renewed seller includes each part or that the spool is unused. Match the model code and inspect the package description. The cited page does not list a catcher or a clipping-discharge accessory, so do not assume either is in the box.
Use it for a narrow, specific job
The 12-inch cutting width and three tool functions can make this combination attractive where the same corded tool is expected to mow a small patch and then trim or edge. Those details do not establish a result on a large lawn, and the official page offers no measured coverage, collection capacity, or blade-cut performance claim. The mowing height is stated as 1.6 inches without a range. For a standard lawn routine involving a collector or selectable clipping modes, compare another mower whose manufacturer documents those features. Confirm the Renewed parts and condition before relying on this exact model.
