Our take
BenQ's MX660P is a presentation projector with native XGA 1024 × 768, 3,000 ANSI lumens, HDMI, USB reader/display, and a 1.1× manual zoom. USB playback can simplify a room that shows prepared files without a dedicated laptop, while HDMI supports a standard external source. These functions are useful only if the file formats and source workflow match the room. The optional wireless display feature is not included by default, so do not treat it as a built-in app or guaranteed accessory. Its XGA panel and used-unit condition are the main tradeoffs to weigh.
A meeting or classroom setup using conventional presentation sources where XGA is sufficient and USB playback can be useful..
It is not for buyers who require native Full HD, verified built-in streaming, wireless display included in the box, or a short-throw setup without checking lens geometry.
Pros & cons
What could work for you, and what to consider before buying.
What works in its favor
- BenQ documents native XGA and a 3,000 ANSI-lumen rating for the MX660P.
- HDMI and USB reader/display give a meeting room two distinct content workflows.
- The 1.1× manual zoom permits limited image-size adjustment after placement.
What to weigh up
- XGA offers less fine detail than Full HD or WUXGA panels.
- Wireless display is optional and should not be assumed included.
- The datasheet cannot show lamp hours or the state of a current used unit.

What the features mean for you
Make sure XGA suits the presentation
BenQ's [MX660P datasheet](https://www.projectorcentral.com/pdf/projector_spec_6304.pdf) lists native XGA 1024 × 768, a 4:3 image format. That resolution can work for ordinary slides and legacy classroom material, but small spreadsheet cells, fine diagram labels, and widescreen video have less native detail than they would on a Full HD projector. Consider the audience distance and the actual source files, not just the projector's ability to accept a signal. If viewers need to read dense content from the back of a room, compare a higher-resolution alternative before accepting the MX660P's older panel format.
Interpret the 3,000 ANSI-lumen rating carefully
The model-specific datasheet labels output at 3,000 ANSI lumens, making the figure more comparable with other ANSI-rated projectors. It can guide a first pass for a room with some ambient light, but it is not a measurement from the exact unit being offered. Age, lamp hours, mode, screen size, and room lighting all affect the picture. Ask for a demonstration in conditions close to the intended use and inspect the lamp menu. A rated number is useful for shortlisting; it cannot guarantee bright or even output from a used projector.
Choose between USB playback and a live source
BenQ lists USB reader/display alongside HDMI. USB can be convenient when a meeting file is prepared for direct playback, but confirm the supported file and media formats before depending on it. HDMI is the more familiar path for a laptop or external player, though audio and resolution still need to be tested. The saved packet does not establish a built-in streaming platform. Optional wireless display is not standard equipment, so if screen mirroring matters, confirm the specific accessory and compatibility rather than assuming that every MX660P package can connect wirelessly.
Allow for the limited zoom range
The MX660P's 1.1× manual zoom gives some ability to adjust image size without changing the projector position, but its range is modest. The saved sources do not provide a confirmed short-throw ratio or optical lens shift for matching. Measure throw from the exact lens instructions and use the real screen dimensions before fixing a ceiling mount. If a room has a narrow distance window, compare a model with a documented ratio or installation range. A small zoom adjustment cannot compensate for an otherwise unsuitable room layout.
Check the actual inputs and accessories
Before choosing a used MX660P, compare the model name on the case with BenQ's official support identity, inspect HDMI and USB operation, and test the file workflow you intend to use. Confirm that the remote, power cable, lens cover, and any separately purchased wireless accessory are actually present. Ask for lamp hours and examine focus, color uniformity, ventilation, and fan behavior after warm-up. The model datasheet describes intended features; it does not report the condition or accessory bundle of an individual unit.
What else to compare
The InFocus IN124 also combines XGA with HDMI and VGA; the BenQ SH910 trades up to Full HD and has LAN control for a different fixed-room requirement.
Before you buy
Is the MX660P native Full HD?
No. BenQ's datasheet lists native XGA 1024 × 768, a lower-resolution 4:3 format.
Does it have wireless display built in?
No default wireless package is established. BenQ treats optional wireless display separately, so check whether the exact accessory is included.
Can it play files without a computer?
BenQ lists USB reader/display. Confirm that the particular file formats and media workflow you need are supported.
