Assessment scenario: Open-ear ANC with a wireless charging case
An assessment scenario for an open-ear AirPods configuration with active noise cancellation, at least five published ANC hours per charge, and a case that supports wireless charging. This is not a statement of the visitor's intent.
Explore this buying guide ↗Why consider this model?
- Apple describes this AirPods 5 design as open-ear and lists ANC, Adaptive Audio and Transparency; the assessment does not treat cancellation as proof of a sealed fit or independently measured effectiveness.
- Apple's exact Wireless Charging Case configuration lists up to five hours ANC per charge and up to 22 hours ANC with the case; case A3529 supports USB-C, Qi and Apple Watch charging and includes a Find My speaker.
- Apple states IP57 dust, sweat and water resistance for the earbuds and case, alongside explicit limits against treating them as waterproof or swimming-safe.
Tradeoffs to weigh
- The fit remains open-ear and personal, not sealed in-ear. Comfort, retention and cancellation strength were not hands-on tested.
- Five hours is an Apple maximum per earbud charge with ANC on, not measured runtime. Actual results depend on use, settings, source and battery condition.
- Apple does not name an audio codec or establish generic two-device multipoint in the reviewed product materials. Full features can be limited on non-Apple devices; Apple lists iOS 27 for iPhone pairing.
- The package does not include a USB-C cable or power adapter, and a Qi or Watch charger is not shown as included. IP57 does not authorize swimming or showering.
Check these before ordering
- Match earbud model numbers A3439/A3440/A3441 and Wireless Charging Case A3529; the standard AirPods 5 case A3530 is not interchangeable.
- Verify the charging pad or Apple Watch charger you own is supported and correctly centers the case; keep a compatible USB-C cable option available.
- Check whether volume swipe, the case speaker and wireless charging are useful enough to choose this package over standard AirPods 5.
- Check device and current OS requirements, feature availability, seller return rights and the personal open-ear fit before relying on specialized features.
- Use Apple's drying and water-care directions; do not swim or shower with the earbuds and case.
