Why consider this model?

  • A fit for an enterprise rack installation that has a genuine 24-position U.2 NVMe workload, planned 25GbE networking, compatible SSD supply, rack depth and power capacity, and staff able to size a large two-socket platform. The reviewed 4314-256G configuration combines dual Xeon Silver 4314 CPUs with 256 GB ECC memory.

Tradeoffs to weigh

  • This is a diskless, specialized rack system, not a ready-to-use desktop NAS: SATA SSD support is limited to eight of the twenty-four front positions, no exact compatible SSD was verified, rails are not listed in the displayed package, and the 50.2 lb chassis plus dual 1200 W supplies need a suitable rack and electrical plan. QNAP's lab throughput figures use a different populated configuration and cannot predict this system's performance. The chassis image also does not show which CPU/RAM option is installed.
