Assessment scenario: Cordless e-paper frame for a connected gallery wall
A still-photo display that can hang or stand without a permanent mains lead, while keeping internet Wi-Fi for cloud sharing and accepting slower e-paper updates.
Explore this buying guide ↗Why consider this model?
- Aura identifies the exact US Graphite with Paper Mat configuration as SKU AF130-MBLK and lists a 13.3-inch, 1600 × 1200, 4:3 E Ink Spectra 6 display with portrait or landscape use.
- The rechargeable battery allows cordless display placement; Aura lists both a custom stand and wall-mounting kit. Its up-to-three-month estimate applies when changing one photo per day and varies with use and room/network conditions.
- Aura documents app-based remote contributions, text-to-frame after setup and unlimited cloud photo storage without a required frame subscription.
Tradeoffs to weigh
- Aura says Ink needs an internet connection at all times for operation. The battery does not establish local-photo import, offline receipt or continued display of cached images during a service outage.
- The e-paper image changes overnight by default; the manufacturer allows at most 12 changes per day and describes an approximately 30-second flashing transition. Ink supports photos only, not video or Live Photos.
- Aura describes the lithium-ion battery as non-removable and non-serviceable. A charging cable is listed, but a power adapter is not confirmed; the sources do not establish an anti-glare surface.
Check these before ordering
- Match the offer to Aura Ink 13-inch Graphite with Paper Mat, US SKU AF130-MBLK; do not confuse it with the separate Aspen Carbon finish whose package may use the label Ink.
- Confirm 2.4 or 5 GHz internet Wi-Fi is available at the planned location and that the recipient accepts cloud/app setup; do not buy for an internet-independent display need based on the battery description.
- Check that the current package has the stand or wall kit needed, that its hardware suits the exact wall and portrait/landscape orientation, and what USB-C power adapter is required for the included nine-foot charging cable.
- Review the current seller, return terms and warranty, and decide whether overnight still-photo updates and a non-serviceable battery suit the household. This page does not report price or availability.
