Why consider this model?

  • A narrow earlier-model option when the source is unencrypted HDMI, a Windows 10/USB 3.0 OBS setup can record at up to 1080p60, and a 1080p-class HDMI display route is enough. It can also serve a supported legacy Intel Mac with the right older Elgato software, but that is not a current Mac recommendation.

Tradeoffs to weigh

  • The HD60 S does not capture 4K, HDR, high-refresh modes or analog video. It depends on host-side processing rather than an onboard H.264 encoder, and its old software/driver and system requirements demand care; it is not interchangeable with the HD60 S+.
