Finnex HMS-50S 50 W Digital Titanium Aquarium Heater
Model: Finnex HMS-50S 50 W Digital Titanium Aquarium Heater (manual-defined configuration; retail SKU unverified)
This entry follows Finnex’s model-specific HMS-50S row and HMS family instructions checked on 2026-11-01: 50 W, 10–20 US gallons, 0.45 A at the manual’s 115 V reference, 50–94°F adjustable control, separate remote water sensor and 6.30-inch titanium tube. The bounded official Shop collection and HMS search did not identify an individual HMS-50S offer, SKU or UPC. The full supply nameplate, delivered retail package and questionnaire compatibility remain unconfirmed.
This model lookup is separate from the questionnaire shortlist. It does not certify that this model meets your selected requirements.
Exact-model photograph is not verified. Text-only model-reference page. The registered official HMS family visual shown with the full assessment depicts shared series components but does not identify the 50 W size, its dimensions or an offered package; it is not used as a photograph of this exact assembly.
Finnex’s September 2020 HMS table places the 50 W HMS-50S in a 10–20 US-gallon band and lists a 6.30-inch heater tube. The current finder cannot enforce that lower limit, and the reviewed official store material did not establish an individual retail variant, so this is an exact-label and setup reference—not a tank-fit recommendation.

Documented model details
- The HMS manual gives this 50 W row a 10–20 US-gallon band, 0.45 A at 115 V and a 6.30-inch tube. It lists 47 inches for the power cord, 30 inches from controller to heater and 47 inches for the sensor lead.
- The HMS controller is listed for 50–94°F adjustments in 0.1°F steps, with Finnex stating ±0.5°F display accuracy. HMS uses a separate remote sensor; its position and lead routing are part of the installation, unlike the HMH family’s internal sensing arrangement.
- Finnex describes the HMS family’s titanium tube, protective guard and freshwater/marine use, subject to operating in water above 150 ppm TDS. These are manufacturer descriptions, not independent performance testing or proof of any seller’s package contents.
Limits to weigh
- The 10-gallon lower boundary is not enforced by the current maximum-only volume question. At 20 gallons, the manual also lists the adjacent 100 W HMS row; this reference does not choose a heater for a particular aquarium or convert a maker’s band into a heat-up guarantee.
- The 0.45 A figure is tied to the manual’s 115 V reference, not a complete supply voltage/frequency nameplate. An individual current Shop variant, retail SKU/UPC, exact revision and seller package were not resolved; the bounded store omission is not evidence of discontinuation.
- Finnex limits the HMS low-water warning/protection behavior to 58–92°F; outside that band the low-water system is disabled and heating may continue if the sensor is exposed. The separate family requirement of more than 150 ppm TDS is not checked by the finder.
- No wattage-marked HMS-50S package photograph or independent aquarium performance measurement was verified. The model-reference page is text-only and does not certify a package or compatibility.
Check before ordering
- Check the unit and offer for the exact HMS-50S / 50 W identity; do not substitute the HMS-100S or the similarly named HMH-50S, which uses a different sensor arrangement.
- Treat 10–20 US gallons as the manufacturer’s two-sided band. The 20-gallon endpoint is shared with a different HMS wattage; do not use this label lookup as a sizing decision for a particular tank.
- Inspect the actual electrical label for the complete input rating and confirm the exact controller and remote probe in the offered package before purchase; 0.45 A at 115 V is not a full supply specification.
- Before use, follow Finnex’s separate-probe placement and full-immersion instructions, observe the limited 58–92°F low-water protection window, confirm water exceeds the maker’s 150 ppm TDS condition, and use the stated electrical safeguards.
