Finnex HMS-150S 150 W Digital Titanium Aquarium Heater
Model: Finnex HMS-150S 150 W Digital Titanium Aquarium Heater (manual-defined configuration; retail SKU unverified)
Finnex’s September 2020 HMS manual names the exact 150 W HMS-150S row; the US HMS family page documents shared probe/control architecture and water-use conditions. The reviewed 2026-11-01 Shop collection and HMS search did not surface an exact offer, which is not a discontinuation finding. A retail SKU/UPC, complete supply nameplate and seller package remain unverified. This reference does not certify a marketplace offer or shopper-specific fit.
This model lookup is separate from the questionnaire shortlist. It does not certify that this model meets your selected requirements.
Exact-model photograph is not verified. Text-only reference lookup: no exact HMS-150S wattage/package photograph is verified. The ordinary review retains an official HMS-series family visual with a caption stating that exact size and package are unidentified; it is not presented here as an exact-model photo.
Finnex identifies the HMS-150S as a 150 W remote-sensor heater with a stated 30–60 US-gallon band and an 8.46-inch tube. Its manual gives a 50–94°F setting range, while low-water protection is active only from 58–92°F. This is an operating reference, not a finder match or a verified retail package.

Documented model details
- The manual’s HMS-150S row lists 150 W, 1.35 A at a 115 V reference, 30–60 US gallons and an 8.46-inch tube. The current band is a manufacturer sizing statement, not a heating guarantee; 1.35 A at 115 V is not a complete supply nameplate.
- The HMS manual describes a 50–94°F adjustable digital setting in 0.1°F increments and a stated ±0.5°F display accuracy. Those are manufacturer specifications, not independent measurements of aquarium-water stability.
- This HMS configuration uses a separate water probe rather than the HMH tube-sensor arrangement. The manual places the submerged probe just above the heater tube, under its clip and without slack, and directs fully immersed installation in moving water.
- Low-water cutoff/alarm is active only from 58–92°F; outside that interval the manual says the protection is disabled and warns the heater may continue heating if its sensor is out of water. The manual also specifies 15-minute acclimation, GFCI protection and a drip loop.
- The HMS family page describes a guarded titanium tube for freshwater and marine use, but requires operating water above 150 ppm TDS. That family-page condition is separate from the manual’s wattage row.
Limits to weigh
- The manual’s 30-gallon lower boundary matters, but this finder’s volume rule checks only a maximum. HMS-150S therefore remains reference-only instead of matching a smaller aquarium on its 60-gallon ceiling.
- The reviewed sources do not establish a full voltage/frequency supply rating, individual retail SKU/UPC, current merchant package or exact 150 W product photo. A 115 V amperage reference cannot establish compatibility for an unknown nameplate.
- Finnex’s reviewed Shop collection and HMS search did not expose an exact current variant, but those bounded results do not prove the configuration is discontinued or unavailable. The saved Amazon search returned HTTP 503 before results; no exact listing or package is established, and that access failure is not evidence of absence.
- Freshwater/marine wording alone is incomplete because the family page requires water above 150 ppm TDS. This water condition is not represented as an active finder filter.
Check before ordering
- Check that the offer and carton explicitly identify Finnex HMS-150S / 150 W; do not substitute an HMH model or another HMS wattage.
- Before connection, verify the actual unit’s full voltage and frequency nameplate. The manual’s 1.35 A at a 115 V reference is not a complete supply rating.
- Confirm the actual package and exact HMS instructions cover the separate remote probe and controller. Compare the 8.46-inch tube and stated lead lengths with the intended installation; the review’s family image does not identify a 150 W package.
- Check the real tank against Finnex’s full 30–60 US-gallon band, and verify water above 150 ppm TDS rather than relying on freshwater/marine wording alone.
- Follow the exact HMS manual for full immersion, probe placement, moving-water location, acclimation, GFCI and drip loop. The low-water system does not operate outside its stated 58–92°F active interval.
