Model reference
Finnex HMH-500S 500 W Digital Titanium Aquarium Heater
Model: Finnex HMH-500S 500 W Digital Titanium Aquarium Heater (manual-defined configuration; retail SKU unverified)
This assessment follows the HMH-500S model row in Finnex’s official HMH manual checked 2026-11-01 and the HMH family overview. The row specifies 500 W, 100–120 US gallons, 4.50 A at 115 V, 50–94°F control, a 15.55-inch tube, and 55/47/47-inch power/controller/sensor cords. The bounded official Shop collection and HMH search, both checked 2026-11-01, did not confirm an individual retail SKU, UPC, package or current offer. A complete voltage/frequency label and aquarium suitability remain unverified.
This model lookup is separate from the questionnaire shortlist. It does not certify that this model meets your selected requirements.
Exact-model photograph is not verified. No wattage-specific HMH product or package photograph was verified. The official HMH family artwork and manual diagram identify a series, not this selected model or delivered package; this model-reference entry is text-only.
HMH-500S is the 500 W row for 100–120 US gallons in Finnex’s manual and has the longest tube in this HMH group at 15.55 inches. Its 100-gallon lower endpoint overlaps the 300 W row, while the finder cannot enforce that minimum; this is a model-identification page, not fit approval.

Documented model details
- The manual’s 500 W HMH-500S row spans 100–120 US gallons and lists a 15.55-inch tube—the longest of the HMH sizes reviewed here. Its power cord is 55 inches; controller-to-heater and sensor leads are each 47 inches.
- Finnex lists 4.50 A at 115 V and a 50–94°F control range, with 0.1°F adjustments and stated ±0.5°F display accuracy. The HMH design uses a sensor within the heater tube rather than the separate remote sensor of HMS.
- The family description identifies titanium construction, a guard and freshwater/marine use conditioned on water above 150 ppm TDS. The manual describes full submersion and a low-water warning that only operates from 58–92°F.
Limits to weigh
- The 100-gallon minimum cannot be enforced by the current maximum-only finder. The manual also lists 100 gallons as the HMH-300S upper endpoint; this reference does not select a heater based solely on that overlap.
- The 4.50 A specification is tied to 115 V, not a complete supply-voltage/frequency rating. Exact package, retail SKU/UPC and current individual seller offer remain unverified; absence from the bounded Shop results does not prove retirement.
- The manual warns that the low-water warning is disabled outside 58–92°F and that heating can continue when the sensor is exposed outside the system’s warning range. Do not treat this feature as a universal dry-run shutoff.
- The maker’s >150 ppm TDS condition is not a finder question. No wattage-specific HMH-500S product/package photo was verified; reference presentation is text-only and maker claims are not independent tests.
Check before ordering
- Verify the exact HMH-500S / 500 W on the heater and delivered carton, not a similar 300 W or another Finnex titanium model.
- Check the complete 100–120 US-gallon band; at 100 gallons the HMH-300S table row reaches its upper edge. This lookup is not a specific-tank capacity decision.
- Confirm the full electrical label, supplied instructions, actual seller and package contents before use. The manual’s 4.50 A at 115 V does not provide all voltage/frequency requirements.
- Measure the available submerged length for the 15.55-inch tube and route the 47-inch controller lead safely. Follow full-immersion, flow, built-in-sensor position, acclimation, GFCI/drip-loop and maintenance instructions; respect the >150 ppm TDS condition and 58–92°F warning window.
