Aqueon Preset Heater 50 W

Exact-model photograph is not verified. This separately authored reference lookup is text-only. The source review retains the exact UPC-mapped Aqueon 50 W package photograph (SHA-256 483d6c16d997c3e438684eaee042e57c35b11b2e6c32f3f478cf07cad5d5940f); it identifies the carton and heater variant, not an installed clearance, performance result or seller’s future package.

Aqueon’s Preset Heater 50 W is the US PS50H (Item 100106251 / UPC 015905062510). Its exact manual recommends 5–20 US gallons, while the current page and catalog agree on the 20-gallon ceiling. Because the current finder can screen only that upper limit, it cannot keep this model out of tanks below the manual’s five-gallon floor; this is a model reference, not a finder match. The fixed 78°F control and single suction cup are specific to this 50 W configuration.

Documented model details

• Aqueon’s US family page maps the 50 W variant to SKU 100106251 and UPC 015905062510; the 2025 catalog repeats the item/UPC and 50 W identity, and the exact manual lists the PS50H model row.
• The PS50H manual recommends 5–20 US gallons. The exact variant page and catalog row independently confirm the 20-gallon upper rating; Aqueon’s general 50 W chart also states 5–20 gallons, but it is general wattage guidance rather than a substitute for the model instructions. An upper rating is not a heat-up or room-loss guarantee.
• The manual specifies a 120 V / 60 Hz supply, 4.75-inch overall heater length and one suction cup. It allows vertical mounting with water above the heater’s marked minimum line or horizontal mounting only when fully submerged; it also requires circulation, the bottom rubber guard and a 30-minute submerged wait before power, and prohibits dry operation.
• The exact page describes a fixed 78°F preset with stated ±1°F accuracy and no adjustment. The red indicator means the heater is actively heating; it is not a numeric reading of aquarium water, and the tolerance is a manufacturer claim rather than an independent tank measurement.
• Aqueon describes the glass construction as shatter-resistant, not shatterproof, and labels the unit for fresh or saltwater. Its page also lists automatic safety shut-off and overheat protection; those statements do not override the manual’s no-dry-operation warning.
• Aqueon’s page dimensions of 3.5 × 1.5 × 7 inches and the catalog’s 3.5 × 1.5 × 6.5 inches are package-like listing figures that differ. The manual’s 4.75-inch overall heater length is the distinct body measurement; neither set of package dimensions should be treated as installed clearance.

Limits to weigh

• The exact PS50H lower recommendation is 5 gallons, but the current volume screen compares upper capacity only. This model is kept reference-only so its 20-gallon ceiling is not mistaken for permission to use it below the manual range.
• The 78°F preset is fixed. Aqueon’s stated ±1°F accuracy does not mean a user-selectable 77–79°F band, a measured whole-tank temperature or a species-care recommendation; use a separate aquarium thermometer.
• ‘Shatter-resistant’ is the manufacturer’s wording, not proof of a shatterproof body. The red lamp reports heating activity and does not show the aquarium’s actual temperature.
• The 20-gallon ceiling does not establish performance in a particular room, target, cover or circulation pattern. No exact maximum immersion depth is provided, so none is inferred.
• The webpage and catalog package-like dimensions differ and are not body clearance. Check the actual heater, suction-cup position, waterline, cord route and aquarium space against the supplied instructions.
• No current price, stock or performance result is asserted. A dated exact-model retailer identity check does not guarantee availability or establish what a future seller will deliver.

Check before ordering

• Match Aqueon Preset Heater 50 W / PS50H / Item 100106251 / UPC 015905062510 and the 120 V / 60 Hz electrical label; do not substitute the 100, 150 or 200 W Preset model.
• Use the manual’s complete 5–20 US-gallon recommendation rather than the 20-gallon ceiling alone. This reference is excluded from the finder because its lower endpoint cannot be screened there.
• Confirm that a fixed 78°F preset is compatible with the livestock plan and verify real aquarium water with a separate thermometer; the red light is only a heating indicator.
• Follow the PS50H instructions: keep water above the marked line vertically or the heater completely submerged horizontally, keep the heating area clear of the suction cup, maintain circulation, fit the lower rubber guard, wait 30 minutes submerged before powering, use a drip loop and disconnect before service. Never operate dry.
• Allow for the manual’s 4.75-inch overall heater length and one suction cup, then check real installation clearance and the offered package. Do not treat the differing webpage/catalog package dimensions as heater-body measurements or the package photo as a scale view.
